Fourth week

August 27, 2018

        Today, I had to teach grade 8 about Can and Can’t. I was being observed by my evaluator, Ibu Iyen. I was very nervous and didn’t really do well in the class. After finished teaching, Ibu Iyen gave me lots of useful comments like I should have more challenge activities; I should put more details on my lesson plan. She was very kind woman. I learnt a lot from her.  

         In the afternoon, I just spent it working on lesson plan because tomorrow is my demonstration day. I was trying to edit my lesson plan because after I got the suggestions from Miss Ibu, I wanted my students to do more challenge activities.  I was thinking so hard about the activities for the lesson tomorrow, telling the cooking procedure. Finally I got an idea. I will let students decorate their own cupcake. I was trying to find a place for buying cupcake but couldn’t find it. My Indonesian friend ( Fahmi ) told me that he will buy it for me and give it to me at school. I couldn’t thank him enough for this. So I just bought toppings and then take some rest.   

August 28, 2018

       Today was my demonstration day. I was super nervous but did my best. I started the class by checking class attendances. Then I had game called Hot cabbages for warm up activity.  After that, I let the students watch the video of a guy cooking without following instruction and asked them some questions by using the game Popcorn for random. Next, I taught them about sequencing words and how to tell cooking procedure. Then I divided students into 4 groups, give them materials for decorating cupcakes. Students had to decorate their own cupcake and write down the procedure of how to decorate their cupcake on the given paper. When they are done, they had to present it in front of the class.

     After finished teaching, I felt really good because it was better than I expected and the students really enjoyed the activity.

       Today is day off. I went to explore around Bandung. We visited some places such as Gedung sate , Alun Alun and Braga street .I was companied by Indonesian friends. I really had good time with them.

August 30, 2018

        Today, I went to school to get my evaluation form from my mentor, say goodbye to all teachers and students. After that we went to Parsa Baru for buying souvenirs for my friends and my family. Then we went to Paris Van Java, a very beautiful mall.

August 31,2018

    Today, I went to school for joining the outdoor activity with grade 9 students. We went to play paintball. It was my first time playing paintball. Spending time with these kids always make me feel like great. After finished the activity, we had lunch together and had a little farewell because this is the last day that I’m going to meet them all. 

September 1, 2018

        I went to De ranch with my friends. The ticket cost only 10.000 Rps for each person and we also can exchange that ticket into a glass of milk.  After that, we explored places around there and bought souvenirs for my friends and my family.

September 2, 2018

     We went to morning market “Gesibu” The market is really big. There are lots of sellers selling many kinds of things, clothes, food, fruits, vegetable and souvenirs. I bought lots of stuff for my family. After that, we went to Pasar Bahu again to buy Batik shirts, sarong and key rings for my family.

September 3, 2018

      We all went to join the Closing Ceremony.  Some of us gave the speech about this amazing program then got the certificates from SEAMEO and souvenirs from UPI.

         In the evening, we went to have dinner together at  Oseng Macon, a restaurant nears UPI. We come here very often so we are pretty close with the waiters. We ate, talked and played games together there. After that, we went back to our dormitory.  We spent the night together because tomorrow we will be leaving. We expressed our feeling, saying thank you to each other for giving such a great support and being such good friends, telling that how meaningful this program is. We laughed so hard but we cried even harder. We stayed up very late and then went to send all my Filipino friends at the airport at 4 a.m. so we all haven’t slept but it worth stay awake for a night.   

September 4, 2018

       The reality is calling me. I was being companied by my buddies and two Indonesian friends to the airport. I couldn’t thank them enough for being such good friends and always help me while I’m staying in Bandung. They really made every day in Bandung become more grateful and unforgettable.

         I had really great time here in Bandung. I totally fell in love with everything here. Bandung is so much more than I expect. This is the best experience ever. Thank you Bandung, it’s been a pleasure.
